Outfit: Peter Pan

Hi lieve lezers!

Hi dear readers,

Again a little break from blogging. I'm just really busy and besides that it's very hard to take some proper outfit photos during this winter season. Too cold, brrr! But today I was wearing an outfit which I found was worth it to show on my blog. And I hope you like it as well :)

I already told you about my new recently discovered high waisted skinny jeans from topshop. I own the exact same one (the joni high waisted) and bought a second one in black, which I'm wearing today. It's my favorite! I combined it with a nice and comfortable pink cropped sweater from Primark which I bought in Bristol last year. Underneath it I'm wearing a vintage top with a peter pan collar.

The cute aztec black leather bag is from Pimkie and I found it in Toulouse two weeks ago whilst browsing the sale section. It's the perfect size for daily wear and super cheap!

Zondag 26 januari Ijhallen Amsterdam

Hi everyone,

This post is going to be for the Dutch readers only, sorry!

Ik sta in HAL 1 rechts achterin! Zie je daar?

Outfit: The perfect high waisted skinny

Hallo allemaal,

Finally: time for a new outfit post! In january it can be quite difficult to shoot my pictures outside. It's either too cold, too wet or too gray, but I finally managed to do it today!

I have been looking for the perfect skinny jeans for a long, long time. Usually my skinny jeans are either too big around the waist or too big on my legs/ankles. Until now I have never found the perfect skinny jeans which I could wear without a belt.

But last week I finally succeded: I went to the Bijenkorf in Amsterdam where they have a Topshop department. And there it was: the Topshop Moto Joni skinnyjeans. This jeans is like pure perfection: it's high waisted which I absolutely love! Besides that it's very soft and fits perfectly! I combined it with a soft pink cropped sweater from H&M and underneath that a top with peter pan collar from Primark. And, what do you think about my red lips? I found this beautiful lipstick in the Kate Moss section from Rimmel and I absolute love it! The pigmentation is just perfect and a nice bright red lip gives an extra vintage touch to the outfit, don't you think so?

Getting fit: Starting to run

Hallo allemaal!

As from now on, I'll start writing in Dutch as well. My unique visitors from the Netherlands are growing and I think it's easier and more fun for my dutch readers to read my blog in their own language.

Like every other year I promised myself to start working out -again-. This year I would like to focus on running since it's something I can do everywhere, even when I'm nightstopping for work. Together with my boyfriend I went to the Nike Factory outlet in Amsterdam. He got me a beautiful pair of sneakers and a special top for running. I bought myself beautiful black thermo tights and with all that pretty stuff I was out of excuses NOT to run.

But at the 1st of january the weather was not that good and I was really busy at work. It took me two weeks to get enough motivation to start running. And last week I finally started! I wore my Nike running gear and was ready to go! Since I can use a little bit of extra motivation and help I downloaded the app "running with evy" for my iphone. And I just came back from my first 3k! Well, it wasn't all running I must confess. Evy told me to walk every now and than as well. I do notice I'm not very fit, but I thought it was way worse. The first course from Evy was really do-able and I would love to run tomorrow again! Do you girls run?

Every now and then I show some of my instagram pictures here on my blog. And today is the day :) It's a collection of pictures from the last couple of weeks, because I'm not doing this on a weekly base and besides that I don't take enough pictures to cover a week.

But for today I selected some of my 'best' pictures from my account shalane89 on instagram. Do you have instagram too? And for those of you who wonder about the filters I use for instagram: I use afterlight and vsco cam most of the time. And I shot all the pictures with my Iphone 4. Which one is your favorite?

FLYING: Lyon

Remember I told you my boyfriend and I were on a luxurious work trip TOGETHER? So 4 days of flying together? That's pretty amazing! Our last day of the trip was in Lyon, France. It's a place where we both have been many times before, and also two times together as well.

And we both do love Lyon! So many good places to eat and to see! We both enjoy cycling, and since the hotel offers the bikes for free (renting ofcourse) we always go by bike to the city center. I just love cycling and following the river all the way up to the main square (place bellecour).

We spend our day eating, cycling and sightseeing. The sunset was again pretty amazing and I took a lot of pictures during that time of the day. Have you been to Lyon before? And do you like it?

FLYING: Sandefjord

Two weeks ago I flew to Sandefjord Torp, a beautiful city in Norway. It was a sunny afternoon and I wandered around in the city and harbor. I walked up a hill and discovered a beautiful lake and an amazing view point too. It was a quiet afternoon and the perfect weather to enjoy the sunset.

Being in Norway quite a lot thanks to my job as a flight attendant makes me appreciate the nature and wilderness even more than I did before. It's my medicine to become relaxed and zen after a busy day at work. Just looking at something so beautiful or walking around and breathing in the fresh forest air. And Norway is super close to perfection. Too bad the days are short during this time of the year. I took a lot of pictures, which I hope you enjoy! :)

“ It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement;
the greatest source of visual beauty;
the greatest source of intellectual interest.
It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living. ”

FLYING: Spending time together

"Choose a job you love and you will
never have to work a day in your life."

While I love my job more than almost anything else, spending time with the ones I love is the thing I love and enjoy the most. Because it's so much more important than my job as a flight attendant. But what is more perfect when these two things are combined?

Just a week before christmas my boyfriend -who's a pilot (first officer)- and I flew together. The cockpit door was the only thing that separated us, and our little 4 day trip was pretty perfect! We requested an early trip to Prague, Bologna and Lyon and by suprise we both got this trip!

It's very difficult for us to fly together. We do work for the same airline, but whereas he's only flying the embraer, I fly another aircraft (fokker70) as well. And therefor my roster has more options and more variety than his. So we had to look closely and finally found the perfect 'pairing' we could fly together.

I do love my job, I can't imagine a life without flying, but I do miss my time at home every now and then. I love spending time with my mom, my boyfriend and my friends. But sometimes it's very hard to have days off in the weekend or to have a day off at someones birthday. I'm away for 4 nights a week most of the time, making it very difficult to maintain a blog as well. But I manage, I do what I can and I do it with love.

FLYING: Praag

During a cold winterafternoon, just a couple of days before christmas, the boyfriend and I started a little trip together. He's a pilot, a first officer to be precise and as most of you know I'm a cabin attendant. It's not very common that we fly together. We do request it a lot, but it never seems to work, until now.

He's not only my love but also my colleague, and it makes it even more fun to fly together! During our first day at work we flew to Prague, where we arrived around 2PM. It was a bit grey but that couldn't stop us from exploring this beautiful city!

We got a taxi up to the castle and walked all the way down, via the bridge to the main square. We enjoyed a hot wine at the local christmas market and had diner with the other crewmembers at italian restaurant 'pasta fresca' which was delicious! Prague is so beautifully decorated around christmas. The lights everywhere, the amazing christmastree on the square: it is just all so perfect! Prague is the best destination for a short weekend trip! Have you been to Prague before?

Outfit: A Marant christmas

Since I was so pleased with my new silver skirt from isabel marant (pour h&m) I thought it deserved an entire blogpost. It was hanging in my closet for over a month and I really couldn't wait wearing it on christmas day. Though it was a bit hard to make an outfit. Obviously with the dutch weather involved, a 'lace' top was just too cold. So I added a nice teddy jacket.

Were you able to get some items from Isabel Marant? And for those who have the same skirt: how did you combined it? I thought it was actually very hard, but I'm pleased with the result. I hope you enjoy my pictures :)

Personal: Christmas 2013

Hopefully never too late for some good old christmas family pictures! It's two weeks ago, but since I haven't blogged in that period I decided to show you my christmas today.

Let me first explain that we have 2 days of christmas in the Netherlands. Ofcourse, as like in any other country we celebrate the 1st day of christmas on the 25th and afterwards we have -ofcourse- the 2nd day of christmas (your boxing day). It's usually the day we spend at our 'other' family, the inlaws. So I went to my boyfriends family in Soest for the first day of christmas and we enjoyed an afternoon filled with games, wines, food and lots of fun.

We had a lovely diner which was very well prepared by my boyfriend and his family. He's a real good cook! There was so much food, I looked pregnant after the 4 courses! Haha! We spend the night at his mothers house and drove to my mom the next day.

So at my mum's we had a 'gourmet' diner, basically: you prepare your own meat. It was delicous and again lots of fun. I gained at least 2kgs these past two days! Haha! But it's so worth it! It's good to spend the days with the ones you love! Anyway, I hope you like all the pictures! I hope your christmas was a lot of fun too! How did you spend your christmas days?

Personal: Happy new year!

Hi dear all,

After a short holiday break I'm back in to the blogging business and ready for a new year filled with new posts and lots of fashion and traveling!

I hope you all had a wonderful christmas and a delightful newyears eve. Did you spend it with the ones you love, and maybe even abroad? We spend christmas with both of our families and during newyears eve we were together in Utrecht. My boyfriends reserve duty is starting today at 5AM so he wasn't able to drink a glass of champagne with me at midnight, but the evening and night was still a lot of fun. And unfortunately during this afternoon they called him out for a 5 day trip. So I'm alone again, boo! :(

But oh well, a new year means new resolutions so lets start!

1. Exercise
Santa (errr... the boyfriend actually) spoiled me with brand new workout/running gear from Nike, so I will use this on a very frequent base this new year! As the previous years, I'm planning on getting 'fit' (more toned actually) and back in shape. Not that I'm a fatty, but I don't have a lot of visible muscles and that should change! Besides that, I think it's good to spend some time outside in the nature running around instead of in the shops. I have made a work out board on pinterest, please click here for some fitsporation! :)

2. Eat clean
Remember the good old days where I ate super clean? I named this resolution the FMB challenge and it lasted for no longer than two months. But it was a delightful period with a lot of fruit, vegetables and healthy smoothies and I felt so good and energetic during the challenge! And eating clean will also mean skipping my daily dose of redbull. I'm on one can each day (I'm an addict) and I need to stop. It's very addictive but very bad! :( I also made a board on pinterest for my own motivation as well as yours so please feel free to check out my Clean Eating board :)

3. Spend less
Spending less money, to make things clear ;) As you all know, I love to shop. Since I like cheap things, I buy a lot. And when you buy a lot cheap things, it still can be expensive. I want to be out of debt by the end of the year and this can only be done by spending less money. Also, I might go for more 'quality' in stead of 'quantity'. This is going to be a hard one...

4. Enjoy more, complain less
During these dark and short days it's easy to get dragged down into a bad mood. Bright sunny winter days with lots of snow actually DO make me happy, but in the Netherlands most days are grey and rainy. So I need to cheer up and think positively. Enjoy the little things and relax a bit more! I have worked extremely hard the last couple of months and looking back on it I really need to take some 'me' time and not rush into all different things.

5. Blog more often
The last year has been an amazing one. It was filled with love, joy, happiness and... lots of blogging! But the last two months, when my roster from work was really heavy, the blog was -unfortunately- a little bit forgotten and neglected. Too bad, since it's one of the things I enjoy so much and it's making me very happy. But it takes up a lot of precious time, so I need to reschedule things in order to keep the blog alive. But I do promise more frequent posts in the near future, eventhough it will not be on an everyday base. I'm thinking (and still planning) on making a new post once every two days. What do you think about that? And do you have more tips for me to improve my blog, make things more interesting or fun? I would love to hear your opinion!
